DP World has invested approximately $52 million, or ₹500 crore, to expand its Nhava Sheva Business Park in Maharashtra, adding one million square feet of warehousing capacity as part of its wider effort to strengthen its logistics infrastructure in India.
The company inaugurated the second phase of the Nhava Sheva Business Park during the visit of DP World Executive Chairman Essa Kazim, Group CEO Yuvraj Narayan and members of the company’s Global Board of Directors.
The newly inaugurated second phase covers 42 acres and adds one million square feet of warehousing space. The first phase, spread across 44 acres, already provides one million square feet of warehousing capacity. Together, the two phases provide two million square feet of warehousing space across 86 acres.
The expansion is part of DP World’s plan to develop an integrated logistics ecosystem at Nhava Sheva by bringing together port operations, container freight stations, rail connectivity, warehousing and Free Trade Warehousing Zone facilities. The company said this integrated network is intended to provide customers with greater capacity, flexibility and connectivity for domestic as well as international trade.
During the visit, DP World’s leadership also met Gaurav Dayal, Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), and Ravish Kumar, Deputy Chairman, to discuss the company’s partnership with the port authority, which spans nearly three decades.
The relationship dates back to the concession agreement for Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT). Discussions during the meeting covered future collaboration opportunities, including the development of Vadhavan Port and further investment in the JNPA Special Economic Zone.
DP World said the expanded business park will support the changing requirements of customers across industries by providing additional warehousing capacity and improving connections between different stages of the supply chain.
The company is also looking to strengthen its presence across India’s trade and logistics network as the country expands its role as a manufacturing, consumption and export hub. Its India operations include container terminals, warehousing, container freight stations, economic zones, rail freight and logistics services.
According to DP World, the Nhava Sheva expansion is intended to improve cargo movement, optimise logistics costs and provide end-to-end supply chain solutions through a connected infrastructure network.
DP World said the investment reflects its long-term focus on India and its strategy of developing infrastructure that can support growing domestic and international trade requirements. The company will also continue to explore opportunities for further investment and collaboration with government and industry partners.
