The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi has approved the construction of five new foot overbridges (FOBs) across key locations in the national capital to enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic movement.
The proposed foot overbridges will be strategically built in high-traffic areas where pedestrian crossings often lead to congestion and road safety challenges. Each structure will feature modern design elements, including ramps and elevators for universal accessibility, energy-efficient lighting, and weather-protected walkways to ensure safety and convenience.
According to PWD officials, the project aligns with Delhi’s broader goal of promoting safe, inclusive, and pedestrian-friendly urban infrastructure. The department has also emphasized the use of durable materials and smart monitoring systems to ensure long-term maintenance and security.
Once completed, the new foot overbridges are expected to reduce pedestrian-related accidents, decongest busy junctions, and provide smoother vehicle movement in the surrounding areas. The initiative reflects the government’s continued efforts to make Delhi’s road network safer and more efficient for both commuters and pedestrians.
