The National Capital Territory of Delhi has introduced the RAH-VEER initiative, under which good Samaritans who help road accident victims can receive a ₹25,000 reward.
Under the scheme, individuals who provide assistance to people injured in road accidents such as offering first response care, arranging transport to medical facilities or supporting emergency services will be eligible for the cash incentive, the government said.
To qualify for the ₹25,000 reward, Samaritan helpers must submit proof of their involvement in aiding the victim. This includes their identity details and documentation related to the assistance they provided. The scheme’s guidelines specify the process for verification and disbursement of the reward.
The RAH-VEER scheme is intended to encourage citizens to step forward and help accident victims without fear of legal or administrative complications. The initiative also aims to promote a culture of timely assistance and compassion on the capital’s roads.
According to the announcement, information on how to apply and the supporting documents required will be provided by the nodal authority overseeing the programme. The government said that awareness efforts will be carried out so that citizens understand how to participate and claim the reward.
The Delhi administration said the RAH-VEER initiative forms part of its broader efforts to improve road safety outcomes and ensure injured persons receive prompt support from bystanders and emergency responders.
