NHSRCL Launches Tenth Steel Bridge in Ahmedabad for India’s First Bullet Train Corridor

NHSRCL installs tenth steel bridge in Ahmedabad for Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has achieved another milestone by launching the 10th steel bridge in Ahmedabad for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor. The 673-tonne structure, built with precision engineering, will carry double-track bullet train lines as part of India’s first high-speed rail project.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has successfully launched the tenth steel bridge in Ahmedabad for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, marking another key milestone in India’s first bullet train project.

The latest bridge, weighing around 673 metric tonnes, has been installed near the Sabarmati area. Designed to carry double-track high-speed rail lines, the bridge has been fabricated in a specialized facility and transported in segments before being assembled on-site with precision engineering techniques.

This launch is part of the larger effort to complete 28 steel bridges across the corridor, connecting major rivers, highways, and railway crossings. Each bridge undergoes extensive structural testing to ensure compliance with high-speed train standards and seismic safety norms.

The bullet train project, which will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad over a 508-kilometre stretch, is being executed with Japanese Shinkansen technology. Once operational, it is expected to drastically reduce travel time between the two cities to about two hours.

According to NHSRCL officials, the successful installation of the tenth bridge highlights steady progress in Gujarat’s section of the project, where significant portions of civil and viaduct works are already nearing completion. The corporation aims to begin trial runs on the Gujarat stretch ahead of the full project commissioning.
