Birla Corporation Ltd. has increased its annual cement production capacity to 21.4 million tonnes (MTPA) following the successful commissioning of Line III at its Kundanganj grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh. The capacity addition marks another milestone in the company’s long-term expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in key markets across central and eastern India.

The newly commissioned grinding line has enhanced the company’s manufacturing footprint, enabling it to better meet rising demand from the infrastructure, housing and commercial construction sectors. With the latest addition, Birla Corporation and its subsidiary RCCPL Pvt. Ltd. now operate 10 cement plants across eight locations in India under the MP Birla Cement brand.

The capacity expansion forms part of the company’s broader growth roadmap. Birla Corporation had earlier approved a ₹4,335-crore investment programme to raise its cement capacity to 27.6 MTPA by FY29 through a combination of new grinding units and clinker expansion projects. The commissioning of the Kundanganj facility represents the first major milestone under this expansion plan.

By augmenting production capacity, the company aims to strengthen supply across its core markets while improving operational efficiencies and supporting future demand driven by government infrastructure spending and sustained growth in the housing sector. The expanded manufacturing base is also expected to reinforce Birla Corporation’s competitive position in India’s rapidly growing cement industry.
