After remaining in limbo for several years, the long-pending Satellite Road project in Bengaluru is set to be revived, according to officials involved in the development. The project aims to improve traffic flow and provide an alternative route connecting key arterial roads in the city.
The Satellite Road initiative was originally conceived to ease congestion on existing city roads by creating a high-capacity corridor linking outer ring roads and major traffic nodes. However, progress stalled due to land acquisition challenges, planning issues and funding constraints, leaving the project partially stalled for an extended period.
Recent developments indicate that authorities have moved to address earlier obstacles, including land clearance and alignment approvals, clearing the way for renewed execution of the project. Revised planning and coordination with relevant agencies are underway to expedite implementation.
Revival of the Satellite Road project is expected to improve connectivity between residential suburbs and commercial hubs, reduce travel times, and decongest heavily trafficked city stretches that currently carry large volumes of commuter and intra-city vehicle traffic.
The renewed focus on the project reflects the city’s efforts to modernise its road infrastructure and provide commuters with alternative travel corridors that enhance overall mobility within the Bengaluru metropolitan region.
