PMGSY rural road construction in Arunachal Pradesh
Pasang Dorjee Sona informed the Assembly that Arunachal Pradesh has completed 96% of roads sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, improving rural connectivity across the mountainous state.

Arunachal Pradesh Rural Works Department Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona informed the State Legislative Assembly that around 96 per cent of road projects sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have been completed in the state. Out of 1,309 roads approved under the scheme, 1,254 have been completed, while the remaining projects are currently under construction.

Responding to a query during the Assembly session, the minister said the state government is continuously working to strengthen rural connectivity and improve road infrastructure in remote areas.

He noted that the pending projects are mostly located in difficult and remote regions where construction faces several challenges. These include rugged terrain, heavy rainfall, landslides and a limited working season, which often slow down the pace of construction activities.

The minister also highlighted that issues such as land-related challenges and logistical constraints in remote areas have contributed to delays in some projects. Despite these difficulties, the government remains committed to completing the remaining works and improving road connectivity across the state.
