Ambuja Cements Plans ₹14,500 Crore Investment to Reach 155 MTPA by FY30

Ambuja Cements has drawn up a ₹14,500 crore expansion programme to add around 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity and take its total capacity to 155 MTPA by FY2030. The company plans to undertake 14 expansion projects across the western, eastern and northern regions, strengthening its manufacturing network and increasing its presence in key cement markets.

The expansion will also add 10.3 MTPA of clinker capacity. Ambuja currently has an installed cement capacity of 113.5 MTPA and expects to increase it to 119 MTPA by March 2027. The company is targeting 149 MTPA by FY2029 before reaching 155 MTPA by FY2030.

The western region will account for the largest share of the planned capacity addition, followed by the eastern and northern markets. The projects will include both greenfield and brownfield developments, with several grinding units planned close to existing clinker facilities. The company expects this approach to make better use of available clinker capacity, reduce transportation distances and improve manufacturing costs.

Key projects in the expansion pipeline include clinker capacity additions at Umrangso in Assam, Maratha in Maharashtra and Mundra in Gujarat, alongside grinding capacity across several locations. The planned additions will strengthen Ambuja’s supply network and improve its ability to serve regional markets.

Speaking about the expansion roadmap, Vinod Bahety, CEO, Cement Business, Adani Group, said the programme was focused on building a more balanced manufacturing network by strengthening the link between clinker and grinding capacity and expanding closer to high-growth markets.

The company expects the expansion programme to be funded largely through internal cash flows, supported by its balance sheet. Ambuja has indicated that the investment will be spread across the coming years as it works towards its FY2030 capacity target.
