“At Alltech, we believe contractors should have access to a technology partner who understands these interconnected requirements. Our portfolio, spanning asphalt plants, bitumen decanters, bag melters, PMB/CRMB and Emulsion plants, Microsurfacing Machines and other road maintenance equipment, allows us to support multiple stages of the road lifecycle.”

1. Alltech has grown from its early manufacturing work in asphalt-plant components into a broader road-construction equipment company with solutions spanning asphalt production, bitumen handling, road maintenance and heavy engineering. What have the changing requirements of India’s road projects taught you about where equipment manufacturers need to create value today?

India’s road infrastructure sector has transformed significantly over the past two decades. Projects today are larger, faster paced and subject to higher expectations for cost efficiency, quality, durability, productivity and lifecycle performance. With increasing traffic and more demanding operating conditions, the focus is no longer only on building roads faster, but on building roads that perform longer, require less maintenance and deliver better lifecycle economics.

This evolution has also taught us that customers increasingly want greater control over their processes—through reliable equipment, in-house capabilities, consistent quality and economical maintenance. For an equipment manufacturer, therefore, value creation goes well beyond supplying a machine; it means becoming a technology and engineering partner across the customer’s requirements.

This understanding led to the evolution of Alltech’s 4M strategy, which represents our transition from being a component-focused manufacturer to a specialist, integrated road-construction technology provider. The four pillars cover the critical stages of the asphalt and bituminous value chain:

  • M – Bitumen Melting: equipment for efficient and controlled handling and melting of bitumen.
  • M – Bitumen Modification: PMB/CRMB, Emulsion and related technologies for producing performance-oriented binders.
  • M – Asphalt Mixing: Batch Mix and Continuous Asphalt Mixing Plants for consistent, high-quality asphalt production.
  • M – Pavement Maintenance: Micro surfacing and Pothole Repair Machines to support preventive maintenance and extend pavement life.

The 4M strategy is therefore not simply a diversification of products; it is a deliberate move towards offering customers a connected technology ecosystem—from bitumen preparation and modification, through asphalt production, to pavement maintenance and rehabilitation.

Our focus is to combine robust engineering, process control, energy efficiency, ease of operation and dependable after-sales support to deliver consistent quality, higher productivity and lower lifecycle costs.

As the industry moves towards more sustainable and performance-driven road infrastructure, we believe equipment manufacturers must increasingly create value across the entire lifecycle of the road, rather than at a single stage of construction. That is the direction in which Alltech’s 4M strategy is taking us.

2. Alltech has supplied equipment for major infrastructure projects, including the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra and Delhi–Mumbai Expressways. What have these large and demanding projects revealed about the level of reliability, production continuity and engineering support that today’s highway construction programmes require from equipment manufacturers?

Our experience on these major highway projects has reinforced that reliability is not simply about keeping a plant running—it is about ensuring production continuity when the project schedule cannot afford delays.

As a testament to our equipment’s performance, our 240 TPH plants have achieved production of more than 4,200 tonnes in a 24-hour period, with continuous production sustained over several days. This level of output demonstrates the importance of robust engineering, dependable equipment and a strong service support system.

However, production capacity alone is not enough. Contractors need a manufacturer who stands behind the equipment throughout its operating life. At Alltech, our responsibility extends beyond supplying the plant. Through our operations and maintenance contracts, Alltech-trained service engineers and 24/7 support, we work to ensure that our customers receive the technical assistance required to maintain production continuity and meet demanding project schedules.

The appreciation of our contractors is reflected in their confidence to place repeat orders with us. For an equipment manufacturer, this is one of the strongest validations of performance and customer satisfaction. We are proud that our work on these projects has resulted in repeat business, and that this trust continues to grow.

These projects have shown us that today’s highway construction programmes require rugged and reliable equipment, sustained production capability, rapid engineering support and a manufacturer who remains a committed partner—not merely a supplier. That is the standard we strive to deliver at Alltech.

3.  Alltech’s portfolio extends beyond asphalt plants into bitumen decanters, bag melters, PMB/CRMB and emulsion plants, microsurfacing machines and other road-maintenance equipment. How important is this wider ecosystem of technologies in helping contractors address the road’s complete lifecycle from construction to preservation and rehabilitation?”

We consider this wider ecosystem extremely important because a road’s lifecycle does not end with construction. Its long-term performance depends equally on the quality of materials used, the effectiveness of construction, and the timeliness of maintenance, preservation and rehabilitation. The industry is increasingly moving towards a lifecycle approach, with greater emphasis on extending pavement life, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring long-term value from infrastructure investments.

At Alltech, we believe contractors should have access to a technology partner who understands these interconnected requirements. Our portfolio, spanning asphalt plants, bitumen decanters, bag melters, PMB/CRMB and Emulsion plants, Microsurfacing Machines and other road-maintenance equipment, allows us to support multiple stages of the road lifecycle.

The advantage of this ecosystem is not simply the availability of more products. It is the ability to integrate material preparation, production, application and maintenance into a more efficient and controlled process. For example, appropriate bitumen handling and modification can help maintain material quality and reduce avoidable reheating and handling losses. Similarly, preventive maintenance and timely surface treatments can help address pavement deterioration before it develops into more costly rehabilitation requirements.

For contractors, this means better process coordination, improved quality control and the potential to reduce unnecessary operating costs. For road authorities and the country, it means infrastructure that can deliver longer service life, better performance and more sustainable use of resources.

Ultimately, we see our role as extending beyond the supply of individual machines. By offering a broader technology ecosystem, Alltech aims to help contractors build, maintain and rehabilitate roads more efficiently, while supporting the industry’s larger objective of durable, reliable and cost-effective road infrastructure.

4.Alltech has been expanding its international presence, with recent projects in markets including the Middle East and Africa. What are international customers looking for from an Indian road-equipment manufacturer, and how is competing overseas influencing the company’s approach to engineering, quality and after-sales support?”

We are proud to compete internationally with the Indian flag, demonstrating that Indian engineering can deliver reliable, robust and globally competitive solutions. International customers increasingly look beyond cost competitiveness and expect Indian manufacturers to deliver reliable engineering, robust equipment and dependable after-sales support. They value consistent performance, ease of maintenance, quality documentation and the ability to customise solutions for local operating conditions.

At Alltech, our growing presence in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Oceania has reinforced the importance of designing equipment to meet international expectations. Competing overseas continuously challenges us to strengthen our engineering processes, manufacturing quality, testing, documentation and quality-control systems.

It also highlights the need to design for diverse climatic and operating conditions, while ensuring timely technical assistance and access to spares. We therefore see international expansion not merely as a business opportunity, but as an opportunity to benchmark ourselves against global standards and bring those learnings back into our products and operations in India.

Ultimately, our objective is to offer customers the complete combination of reliable technology, strong engineering and responsive service support demonstrating that Indian road-equipment manufacturers can compete confidently on quality and long-term value.
