AKM Autokranvermietung expands crane fleet with Tadano AC 7.450-1 all-terrain crane in Munich
AKM Autokranvermietung has added a Tadano AC 7.450-1 all-terrain crane to its fleet, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with Tadano.

Munich-based AKM Autokranvermietung GmbH has expanded its crane fleet with the addition of a Tadano AC 7.450-1 all-terrain crane, further strengthening its long-standing relationship with the global lifting equipment manufacturer.

The decision follows AKM’s positive experience with Tadano’s large-capacity cranes over the years. The company previously operated a Tadano AC 8.500-1 for an extended period, during which it delivered consistent performance and reliability across demanding lifting applications.

Commenting on the new acquisition, Sven Bauer, Managing Director of AKM Autokranvermietung, said the choice was a natural progression based on past experience. He noted that the company’s familiarity with Tadano equipment, combined with the performance credentials of the AC 7.450-1, made it a clear fit for AKM’s operational requirements.

Bauer personally took delivery of the crane at Tadano’s manufacturing facility in Zweibrücken, accompanied by crane operators and fitters from AKM. During the handover, the team received a comprehensive technical briefing to ensure smooth integration of the machine into active service.

From Tadano’s side, the delivery was seen as a continuation of a trusted customer relationship. The company highlighted its appreciation for AKM’s continued confidence in Tadano’s large crane portfolio.

A key factor behind AKM’s selection of the AC 7.450-1 is its compact design combined with high lifting performance. The crane offers the footprint and manoeuvrability typically associated with a six-axle model, while delivering the lifting capacity more commonly found in eight-axle cranes. This balance is particularly advantageous for operations in dense urban environments such as Munich, where space constraints are a constant challenge.

AKM has specified the crane with a luffing jib and Tadano’s Sideway Superlift (SSL) system, significantly enhancing its versatility across a wide range of lifting tasks. The ability of the AC 7.450-1 to self-rig the SSL system was another decisive advantage, improving efficiency on site and reducing setup time.

Additional features that influenced the purchase include Tadano’s IC-1 crane control system, which AKM’s operators are already familiar with from other machines in the fleet. The patented Surround View camera system also plays a crucial role, particularly on confined construction sites, by supporting precise crane positioning and improving safety through pedestrian detection in busy urban areas.

With the induction of the AC 7.450-1, AKM Autokranvermietung expects to further strengthen its capability to handle complex lifting operations while setting a new technical benchmark within its fleet. The company views the crane as a valuable long-term investment that aligns with its focus on performance, safety and operational efficiency.
