Kerala’s First Seaplane is all set to take off to boost the tourism in the state

In order to boost Kerala’s tourism sector, the amphibious ‘De Havilland Canada’ seaplane had its inaugural landing at the Bolgatty Waterdrome on Kochi Lake.

Tourism Secretary K Biju, Aviation Secretary Biju Prabhakar, District Collector N S K Umesh and other tourism representatives were there for the inaugural session of 17 seater aircraft.

The first official service of the seaplane was set to fly from Kochi to Mattupetty which was flagged off by State Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas. 

The launch ceremony of the seaplane at Bolgatty Palace will be headed over by Industries Minister P Rajeeve, this announcement was made in the official statement. The crew and passengers will be graced at the Mattupetty Dam in Idukki district by Minister for Water Resources Roshy Augustine. 

The services of this plane will have affordable fares and these planes have the seating capacities ranging from 9 to 30 passengers.

 According to Tourism Secretary K Biju, the seaplane service is expected to open up new opportunities for tourism enterprises and increase employment within the sector.
