India’s First Test Railway Track Worth Rs 820 Crore will be fully operational by 2025
India’s first dedicated railway test track’s construction is underway in Rajasthan which is an advanced facility designed to enhance testing capabilities for high-speed and modern rail rolling stock. This track is expected to be fully operational by December of 2025. This state-of-the-art 60 km track will be a platform for Indian Railways to perform rigorous tests on various types of rail vehicles from high-speed trains to bullet to metro to semi-high speed trains.
This testing track is situated in the Jodhpur division which is between Guddha and Thathana Mithdi in Deedwana district, the track passes through the iconic Sambhar Lake which is about 80 km from Jaipur.
This track is not like a traditional straight track, this track features multiple curves to test train stability at various speeds, simulating realistic track conditions. Some of the curves are designed for high-speed tests while others accommodate lower speeds, allowing Indian Railways to analyze how trains maintain performance on challenging paths
