Mangaluru Water Metro set to become India’s second largest water transport system

The official has revealed that the Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB) has announced new plans for the Mangaluru Water Metro Project (MWMP).

 

This intiative grants to revolutionize public transportation in the state by leveraging National Waterways to link regions along the Nethravathi (NW-74) and Gurupura (NW-43) rivers. According to the official statement, the project is subjected to become India's second largest water transport system, following Kochi, offering an eco& friendly, cost effective, and efficient travel option.

 

This project projected to bridge the gap between the communities from Bajal to Maravoor and it will improve the accessibility and encouraging the overall development of these areas. It is pridected that the intiative will enhance local livelihood and upraise the standard of living by establishing untreated transport network.

 

The project will be rolled out in many phases and the initial stretch will cover 30 kilometres along the Nethravathi and Gurupura rover backwaters. The primary route will start at Bajal on the Nethravathi and extend to the Maravoor Bridge on the Gurupura, incorporating approximately 17 modern Metro stations.
