JSW growth plan: Capital expansion of Rs 2,359 crore
JSW Group firm JSW Infrastructure Limited announced on Monday that it has approved a capex of Rs 2,359 crore for capacity development at its Jaigarh and Dharamtar ports. As part of the company's FY2030 growth plan to increase capacity to 400 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from its current capacity of 170 MTPA, the Boards of the respective subsidiary companies have approved a total capacity expansion plan of 36 MTPA (21 MTPA at Dharamtar and 15 MTPA at Jaigarh), according to a statement.
The capex plan includes mechanical, civil, and electrical work for the new berths, as well as additional infrastructure like a railway siding for Jaigarh Port to increase third-party freight flow, it said.
According to the announcement, the development will expand Jaigarh Port's overall capacity to 70 MTPA from its current 55 MTPA, and Dharamtar Port's capacity to 55 MTPA from 34 MTPA.
This expansion is largely intended to accommodate the anchor customer's increased cargo volume as a result of the proposed 5 MTPA steel-making facility in Dolvi, Maharashtra, it stated.
The development at both ports is estimated to result in an additional cargo handling volume of about 27 MTPA.
