Asia’s Second Highest Bridge, Singshore Bridge to transform into glass skywalk to boost the tourism

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has given a green light to an ambitious project to convert Sikkim’s iconic Singshore suspension bridge which is located in Dentam, Gyalshing district which has a stunning glass-deck skywalk. This announcement aims to boost tourism in the state of Sikkim by offering visitors splendid views of the landscape.

 

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the Singshore Bridge is the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second highest in Asia which is towering over 100 meters in height and stretching 249 meters in length. The transformation of this into a glass skywalk is aimed to enhance the tourist experience, making it a multi - visit destination in the region.

 

Previously, the bridge was managed by the Roads and Bridges Department but now the official has transferred its charge to the Tourism Department for technical assessments and the work has already started as the chief engineer of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department hinted that the bridge will undergo structural testing and modifications to ensure that it meets all the safety standards.
