UP government assures Centre of timely resolution of problems in NH projects

According to an official statement, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has assured the Centre of prompt resolution of any issues arising in the implementation of national highway projects in the state.

During a meeting held here to evaluate the progress of national highway projects, the chief minister also stated that departmental land would be provided free of charge for the expansion of national highways in Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath also submitted a list of requirements pertaining to national highways in the state to the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari.

The Chief Minister assured the central government that any issues arising from the implementation of national highways in the state would be resolved promptly and that the process of land acquisition and compensation distribution would be completed within the stipulated time. According to the statement, Adityanath stressed that the expansion of national highways in the state will not stop.

He informed the meeting that, in 2017, the state had a total of 48 national highways spanning 8,364 km. By the year 2024, the number had risen to 93, and the distance had increased to 12,733 kilometres.

However, he pointed out that, in terms of population, this is still below the national average of 11.77 km per lakh. In order to attain the national average, it is necessary to construct an additional 11,500 kilometres of national highways, he stated.
