NDMC begins 24x7 water supply pilot in Vinay Marg area to enhance smart and continuous water distribution

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has rolled out a 24×7 water supply pilot project in the Vinay Marg area of Chanakyapuri, marking a major step toward continuous and smart water distribution in the capital.

The project will cover around 550 households, primarily government accommodations, ensuring uninterrupted access to clean drinking water. It has been approved at a cost of approximately ₹1.38–1.4 crore and is expected to be completed within five months.

A key highlight of the initiative is the integration of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, enabling real-time monitoring and management of the water supply network. The project also includes installation of modern VFD-based pump systems, automation technologies, and data analytics tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and operational control.

In addition, NDMC plans to upgrade existing pipeline infrastructure, detect and reduce leakages, and optimize distribution systems, addressing long-standing inefficiencies in urban water management.

The initiative aligns with the government’s broader Har Ghar Jal mission, aiming to provide reliable water access while reducing wastage. Officials have also indicated that this pilot will serve as a blueprint for scaling 24×7 water supply across NDMC areas in the future.

This move represents a shift from traditional time-based supply to a continuous, technology-driven water delivery system, enhancing both urban infrastructure resilience and quality of life for residents.
