Hindalco Industries has clarified that its aluminium extrusions operations have not been halted, dismissing reports suggesting a shutdown due to gas supply disruptions. The company stated that recent communication sent to customers was a routine business intimation regarding potential supply disruptions, following a force majeure declaration by certain gas suppliers.
According to the company, the possible disruption is limited to a small portion of the aluminium extrusions segment, which accounts for less than 0.1% of Hindalco’s overall production capacity. As a result, the issue is not expected to materially affect the company’s overall operations or financial performance.
Hindalco emphasised that all other upstream and downstream operations continue to function normally, including its primary aluminium production facilities. These operations remain stable due to the company’s captive power generation and alternate energy arrangements, which help maintain uninterrupted production.
The clarification came after market reports suggested that aluminium product sales had been halted amid global supply disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions affecting gas availability. Hindalco stated that the notification to customers was merely a precautionary step to address potential supply uncertainties.
Aluminium extrusions produced by the company are widely used across sectors such as construction, electric vehicles, electronics, and solar energy systems, making them an important component of industrial supply chains.
The company reiterated that it continues to monitor the gas supply situation and take necessary measures to mitigate any operational impact, ensuring continuity in its broader aluminium manufacturing activities.
