Danfoss India and PowerNEU form joint venture to drive decarbonisation in metals and heavy industries
Danfoss India and PowerNEU have formed a joint venture, Danfoss PowerNEU Private Limited, to support decarbonisation and energy efficiency in India’s metals and heavy industries.

Danfoss India has entered into a strategic partnership with engineering firm PowerNEU to establish Danfoss PowerNEU Private Limited, a new joint venture aimed at supporting India’s metals and heavy industries through a locally anchored execution and solutions framework. The venture was officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony for a new manufacturing facility and office complex in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

The formation of Danfoss PowerNEU represents a key step in Danfoss’s long-term India strategy, enabling the company to deliver advanced technologies and decarbonisation solutions closer to industrial customers. Situated in one of India’s primary steel-producing regions, the Jamshedpur facility will cater to major metals and steel manufacturers across Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and adjacent industrial belts. The joint venture has been structured as a scalable, long-term platform to support decarbonisation across India’s metals and heavy industry value chain.

Designed to strengthen customer proximity, the facility will support solution development near operating plants, backed by round-the-clock connectivity and rapid on-site response capabilities. This approach is expected to enhance execution speed, deepen collaboration with customers, and enable solutions that are closely aligned with actual plant conditions, delivering tangible gains in energy efficiency, productivity, and sustainability.

Once operational, the integrated facility will function as a single-window solution covering design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance for complex industrial and process-driven applications, in line with Danfoss’s global standards. The site will support offerings across Danfoss’s business segments, including Power Drives, Climate Solutions, and Power Solutions, delivered from a unified location.

The Jamshedpur campus will also feature a dedicated Experience Centre focused on next-generation decarbonisation technologies spanning power electronics, climate control, and hydraulics. The centre will serve as a platform for customer engagement, hands-on training, technology demonstrations, and capability development, supporting long-term value creation for industry stakeholders.

With decarbonisation gaining urgency across energy-intensive sectors, energy efficiency is emerging as a critical driver of both sustainability and competitiveness. Industry estimates indicate that nearly 53 percent of global energy could be lost as waste heat by 2030, while demand for green steel in India is projected to reach 4.49 million tonnes by FY30. Danfoss India views this transition not only as an environmental necessity but also as a significant growth opportunity, driven by technologies that reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, and improve operating economics.

Commenting on the development, Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, said that India’s metals and heavy industries are at a defining moment where expansion must be balanced with sustainability goals. He added that Danfoss PowerNEU underscores the company’s long-term commitment to India by combining global decarbonisation expertise with strong local execution capabilities, while reinforcing Eastern India’s role as the nation’s steel hub.

Mandar Vaijanapurkar, Head – Drives Sales, Marketing and Services at Danfoss India, noted that the joint venture is a strategic move to accelerate decarbonisation across India’s core industrial sectors. He highlighted that the Centre of Excellence in Jamshedpur will play a central role in the execution model, focusing on application development and advanced engineering to enable faster deployment and sustained performance improvements.

Vijay Kumar Singh, Managing Director, Danfoss PowerNEU Systems Pvt. Ltd., said the partnership brings together the complementary strengths of both organisations, combining Danfoss’s global experience and advanced drive and decarbonisation technologies with PowerNEU’s engineering expertise, local market understanding, and execution capabilities to enhance customer outcomes across the steel sector.

Tanmay Roy, Director – Operations, Danfoss PowerNEU Systems Private Ltd., added that the Centre of Excellence will concentrate on application development, advanced engineering, and capability building for the metals industry. He noted that the focus will be on enabling faster solution deployment, predictive diagnostics, and continuous performance optimisation, ensuring that decarbonisation initiatives translate into scalable, real-world impact for customers.
