Eicher Trucks & Buses marks National Energy Conservation Day by showcasing energy-efficient manufacturing, renewable energy adoption and sustainable mobility initiatives.

Eicher Trucks & Buses, the commercial vehicle division of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), marked National Energy Conservation Day by reinforcing its commitment to energy-efficient manufacturing, sustainable mobility and resource-smart operations. The company used the occasion to highlight ongoing measures aimed at reducing energy consumption, expanding renewable energy use and supporting cleaner transport solutions.

At the heart of Eicher’s sustainability push is its Industry 4.0-enabled manufacturing facility in Bhopal, which integrates digital intelligence and smart systems to optimise resource use and energy efficiency. The plant features a 52-million-litre water body that supplies treated water to the paint shop and creates a circular water management loop, benefiting both operations and the local ecosystem.

On the energy front, Eicher has replaced nearly 5,000 conventional light fixtures with LED systems, and deployed IoT-based energy monitoring and motor control technologies to reduce overall energy consumption. These efforts are part of the company’s broader target to achieve **70 per cent renewable energy usage in its operations by the end of FY 2027, alongside ambitious plans to become water positive by 2030.

Beyond manufacturing, Eicher is promoting on-road energy efficiency and sustainability through its connected vehicle ecosystem. With over 387,000 vehicles linked via the MyEicher platform, fleet operators can access predictive insights to reduce idle time, optimise fuel use and improve utilisation, all contributing to lower energy intensity in logistics operations.
The company is also expanding its portfolio of vehicles running on alternate fuels, including CNG, LNG and electric powertrains, facilitating cleaner mobility across different segments and geographies. These initiatives align with Eicher’s guiding philosophy of being “Pro-Profit, Pro-Planet”, underscoring a balanced focus on business efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Eicher’s sustainability strategy further encompasses waste reduction, emission controls, plantation drives and Zero Waste to Landfill programmes, which are mapped to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy, responsible consumption, water management and climate action.

By prioritising energy conservation within its facilities and products, Eicher Trucks & Buses continues to push for a more resilient, efficient and environmentally aligned commercial vehicle sector in India.
