Centre Approves Rs 710 Crore for 45 Rural Road Projects Covering Over 500 Km in Mizoram

The Centre has approved 45 rural road projects covering more than 500 km in Mizoram at an investment of Rs 710 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) for the financial year 2026-27. The projects will provide all-weather road connectivity to 48 habitations in the state for the first time, improving access to essential services and strengthening rural infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the new road network will connect previously underserved habitations with schools, hospitals and rural markets. Improved connectivity is expected to facilitate the movement of people and goods while supporting economic and social development in remote areas of the state.

The latest approval adds to the infrastructure development being undertaken under PMGSY-IV in Mizoram. So far, 367 road projects and seven bridges, involving a cumulative investment of more than Rs 3,400 crore, have been sanctioned for the state. The programme aims to expand rural connectivity and improve access to essential services across previously unconnected habitations.
