JSW Greentech Limited has secured its first commercial order for 100 AMPSTAR 4×2, 55-tonne electric tractor-trucks from JSW Cement for heavy-duty industrial transportation. The vehicles will transport clinker and slag along an approximately 330-km route connecting Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh with Vijayanagar in Karnataka.

The deployment will support the movement of an estimated 1.25 lakh tonnes of material every month. Paradeep Parivahan Limited will serve as the logistics partner, while JSW Eco-Mobility will provide batteries under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.

To support operations along the freight corridor, JSW Eco-Mobility plans to establish four dedicated battery-swapping stations. The arrangement is intended to reduce vehicle downtime and support regular material movement between the two locations. According to the company, the operation is expected to save approximately 4.5 crore litres of diesel and avoid around 6,250 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the contract period.

The 55-tonne AMPSTAR electric tractor-truck delivers a peak power output of 430 kW and peak torque of 2,600 Nm. The order follows certification of AMPSTAR’s 4×2 and 6×4 electric tractor-trucks under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), clearing the regulatory requirement for their deployment on Indian roads.

Sumit Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of JSW Greentech, said the deployment marks a key milestone for AMPSTAR, coming just over a month after the brand’s launch. He highlighted the role of JSW Eco-Mobility’s battery-as-a-service offering in supporting the company’s entry into heavy-duty electric freight transportation.

The trucks will be manufactured at JSW Greentech’s upcoming greenfield facility at AURIC in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. Spread across approximately 90 acres, the plant is planned to have an annual production capacity of 15,000 electric buses and trucks, supported by an automated truck-cabin production line and an integrated battery ecosystem.

The order represents JSW Greentech’s transition from launching its AMPSTAR commercial electric vehicle brand to its first announced commercial truck deployment. The company plans to expand its product portfolio beyond tractor-trucks to include electric tippers and fixed-body dumpers.
