Volvo Buses India has received an order for 200 coaches from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), marking its largest-ever order in the Indian market.
The order comprises 170 seater coaches and 30 sleeper coaches from Volvo’s 9600 range. The procurement is aimed at strengthening MSRTC’s premium intercity transport services and expanding access to comfortable long-distance travel across Maharashtra.
The coaches will be manufactured at Volvo Buses India’s facility in Hoskote, Karnataka. The Volvo 9600 range is designed for intercity and long-distance travel, with configurations catering to different passenger requirements.
The order marks a significant development in Volvo Buses India’s engagement with state transport undertakings and reflects growing demand for premium coaches in public transportation. For MSRTC, the addition of these vehicles is expected to support fleet modernisation and improve passenger services on long-distance routes.
The order also reinforces Volvo’s presence in India’s premium intercity bus segment, where transport operators are looking to upgrade passenger comfort and service standards.
