Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed six major infrastructure projects with a combined investment of more than ₹30,000 crore during the 53rd meeting of the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) platform. The projects span the railway, road and power sectors and are spread across nine states, with the review focused on accelerating implementation and resolving inter-ministerial and inter-governmental issues.
During the meeting, Modi stressed that infrastructure projects should follow an end-to-end approach, with ministries, state governments and implementing agencies taking greater ownership of execution. He called for faster decision-making and stronger coordination to prevent delays and ensure projects are completed within their stipulated timelines.
The Prime Minister also emphasised that speed of execution must go hand in hand with quality. He directed implementing agencies to strengthen quality-assurance mechanisms and supervision at every stage of construction, while making greater use of modern technologies to improve monitoring and project delivery.
The six projects reviewed under PRAGATI cover critical infrastructure across multiple regions and are intended to strengthen connectivity, power infrastructure and economic activity. The platform enables the Centre and states to jointly monitor large projects, identify bottlenecks and facilitate quicker resolution of issues affecting implementation.
Modi called for a proactive work culture across ministries and state governments, with officials expected to anticipate potential bottlenecks rather than waiting for delays to emerge. He also stressed the importance of regular field-level monitoring and coordination among agencies involved in large infrastructure projects.
The latest review highlights the government’s continued focus on using PRAGATI as a mechanism for improving the implementation of major infrastructure projects. By bringing multiple stakeholders together on a common monitoring platform, the government aims to improve execution efficiency, strengthen accountability and ensure that large public investments translate into timely infrastructure creation.
