Titagarh Rail Systems Inaugurates New Design and Operations Centre in Uttarpara

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has inaugurated a new Design & Operations Centre at its Passenger Rail Systems (PRS) facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal, strengthening its in-house capabilities in design, engineering, operations and technology development. The facility, inaugurated on August 21, is expected to support the company’s expanding portfolio of passenger rail systems and strengthen its engineering base in the state.

The new centre will function as a hub for advanced engineering, design-led innovation and technology development, enabling Titagarh to undertake greater design and engineering activities internally. The facility is also expected to support the execution of the company’s growing passenger rail projects and contribute to the development of future-ready rail mobility solutions.

The inauguration was attended by Tapas Roy, Minister of Industry & Commerce, and Arjun Singh, Minister of Labour & Transport, Government of West Bengal. The participation of state government representatives underlines the collaboration between industry and government towards strengthening West Bengal’s manufacturing and rail infrastructure ecosystem.

Titagarh Rail Systems Vice Chairman and Managing Director Umesh Chowdhary said the new centre marks another milestone in strengthening the company’s design, engineering and innovation capabilities. The facility is aligned with Titagarh’s broader focus on building world-class rail manufacturing capabilities in India and advancing its “Make in India, Make for the World” approach.

The development comes as Titagarh continues to expand its presence in passenger rail systems, including metro and semi-high-speed rail projects. The company supplies passenger rail solutions to several Indian cities and is also strengthening its capabilities in areas such as propulsion systems, train manufacturing and related rail technologies.

The Uttarpara centre is expected to further strengthen Titagarh’s ability to develop and deliver advanced passenger rail solutions while contributing to the growth of West Bengal as a manufacturing and engineering hub for the railway sector.
