Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth nearly ₹18,000 crore across Andhra Pradesh, spanning aviation, semiconductors, highways, railways and industrial infrastructure. The initiatives are aimed at strengthening the state’s connectivity, manufacturing ecosystem and logistics network while generating new employment opportunities.

A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the ₹5,700-crore Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the ₹460-crore ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam, which will be developed by ASIP Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with South Korea’s APACT, marking another step in India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions.

The development package also includes road, rail and urban infrastructure projects designed to improve regional connectivity and support industrial growth. Among them are key national highway works, railway infrastructure upgrades and initiatives intended to enhance logistics efficiency and facilitate faster movement of passengers and freight across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the projects reflect the Centre’s commitment to accelerating Andhra Pradesh’s economic transformation through modern infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. The investments are expected to strengthen the state’s position as a key destination for industry, trade and investment while supporting long-term regional development.
