Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar, is set to become the next airport to offer Air India’s ‘Easy Connect’ service, following the successful rollout of the initiative at Varanasi. The service is part of the Government of India’s hub-and-spoke aviation framework, designed to simplify international travel for passengers from non-metro cities.

Under the Easy Connect model, passengers will be able to complete check-in, baggage tagging and immigration formalities at their origin airport before boarding a domestic flight to Air India’s hub in Delhi. After arriving at the hub, travellers can proceed directly to their international departure gate without repeating these procedures, resulting in faster and more convenient transfers.

Following the launch of the service from Varanasi on June 25, 2026, Air India announced that the facility would be extended in phases to 11 additional cities, including Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, Patna, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam.

The initiative aims to strengthen India’s aviation network by allowing passengers to begin their international journeys from their home cities instead of relying on overseas transit hubs. It is expected to improve passenger convenience, reduce transfer time and reinforce Delhi’s role as a major international aviation hub.
