Operations have officially commenced at the Hirnoda Dry Port in Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in the state’s logistics and freight infrastructure development.
Located near Jaipur, the facility has been developed to strengthen multimodal logistics connectivity and improve cargo movement between Rajasthan’s industrial centres and major seaports across the country.
According to officials, the dry port is expected to serve as an important inland logistics hub, providing exporters and importers with efficient cargo handling, container storage, customs clearance, and transportation services closer to production and consumption centres.
The facility has been established to reduce logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency, and facilitate faster movement of goods for industries operating across Rajasthan and neighbouring regions.
Officials stated that the dry port will support the growing demand for containerised cargo movement generated by sectors such as engineering goods, textiles, handicrafts, automotive components, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The Hirnoda facility is strategically positioned to leverage Rajasthan’s expanding industrial ecosystem and its connectivity through the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), national highways, and rail networks.
The dry port is expected to function as an inland extension of major maritime gateways, enabling seamless cargo movement between hinterland industries and ports while reducing congestion at coastal terminals.
Infrastructure at the facility includes container handling systems, warehousing facilities, customs-related services, freight management infrastructure, and multimodal transport connectivity designed to support efficient logistics operations.
Officials highlighted that the project aligns with the government’s broader efforts to strengthen logistics infrastructure under initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy, aimed at reducing logistics costs and improving India’s global competitiveness.
The commencement of operations is expected to boost trade activity, attract investment, and create employment opportunities while enhancing Rajasthan’s position as an important manufacturing and logistics hub.
Industry experts believe the Hirnoda Dry Port will play a crucial role in improving cargo evacuation, strengthening supply chains, and supporting export-oriented industries by providing faster and more cost-effective logistics solutions.
The development represents another step toward building an integrated national logistics network capable of supporting India’s growing trade volumes, industrial expansion, and long-term economic growth.
