Mumbai’s connectivity infrastructure is set for a major boost as authorities move forward with a 25-kilometre elevated road corridor linking Thane directly to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
The project aims to provide seamless travel between the city’s eastern suburbs and the new international airport, reducing travel time significantly and easing pressure on existing road networks. Once completed, commuters from Thane and surrounding regions will have a faster, congestion-free route to NMIA, which is expected to handle millions of passengers annually after its phased opening.
The corridor is designed to integrate with existing highways and city roads, ensuring smooth traffic movement and improved last-mile connectivity. Officials believe the project will not only improve airport accessibility but also strengthen Thane’s role as a growing residential and commercial hub.
The initiative comes as part of Maharashtra’s broader push to enhance transport infrastructure around NMIA, including metro lines, rail links, and expressways, to support the airport’s strategic importance in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
